The ADAP perspective
Create More Capacity for What Matters.
The objective is not a company with fewer people thinking. It is a company where people have more time to think.

When technology works well, it should remove mechanical burden from the organization and return scarce human attention to the places where judgment, creativity, relationships, and responsibility matter most.
Recovered time is organizational capacity.
An employee spending fewer hours copying information between systems has not automatically produced payroll savings. The business has recovered capacity. What that capacity becomes depends on what the organization does with it next.
It can become better customer service, more planning, stronger vendor relationships, faster decisions, more experimentation, more selling, or simply enough breathing room for a skilled employee to do the job they were hired to do.
Workarounds are often signals.
Spreadsheets, side channels, handwritten references, duplicate tracking systems, and repeated manual checks are often created because employees are trying to keep the operation working. Before removing the workaround, understand the gap it is filling.
Automate around the human first.
Good redesign begins by removing unnecessary navigation, reconciliation, re-entry, searching, and repeated exception handling around the person. Then it asks where technology can responsibly assist judgment without obscuring accountability.
Automate around the human before automating the human.
